I’ll wrap up “Django week” in a classical vein today, with British guitarist and lutenist Julian Bream.
While Bream himself is a classical guitarist, it was his father who was a jazz guitarist and the exposure the young Bream was given to Django Reinhardt helped to influence the boy to play himself.
When it came to the classical style, the influence of Andres Segovia also came into play for Bream.
As for his sound on the lute, it harkens back to Renaissance days. It’s good to keep it all alive.
