I’m going to keep it simple today. In my “rotation” of music playlists, it’s come back around to country music’s turn to shine. And, just like the disc jockey I once was as a teenager, this one is coming from a “special request” from a sweet friend and “sistah.”
Today, it’s all about Patsy Cline. It doesn’t get much more simple (in a very good way) yet sophisticated at times than it does with the late, great, gone-way-too-soon Patsy. She could honky-tonk with anyone (think “Walkin’ After Midnight”), yet when she sang a song like “Sweet Dreams” or Willie Nelson’s “Crazy,” there was more of a jazzy sophistication to it.
What a remarkable combination. What a remarkable singer. What a remarkable lady, in every sense of the word. What a tragic loss.
