Tips on writing a resume … from “Chet Chesterfield” … in a talent show?

Man, there sure are times that I wish SOMEONE out there would put up a video on YouTube and send me a link so I can use it in THE BIIIIG TALENT SHOW.  This “Chet Chesterfield” dude is the only one I’m getting anything from, and I’m not sure I’d call what he does “talent.”

I know people are still looking at old talent show posts, and I’m hoping it’s not because they like that one I put out there months ago with that whiny “Fred” character that’s become a millionaire by being so obnoxious.

But, then again, if people want that kind of character, maybe “Chet” is for them after all.

It seems that our friend “Chet” ran into some trouble after last week’s video in which he treated his poor lovely wife/office manager “Cherita” mercilessly as he showed how to be a boss.  It seems that she packed up her stuff and walked out on the family-run business, leaving “Chet” to try combing through resumes to find a replacement.

He came across a few tips on what not to say in a resume, and for his “talent” this week he thought he’d offer that bit of advice.

See why I’m so anxious to get more people out there to submit a talent show video?  “Chet” thinks he’s cute and clever, but …

Please!  Do you really want to subject yourselves more to the likes of this … fella?

Do you have a “hidden talent” that you’d like to share with the world?  Feel free to do so!  All I ask is that you keep it at a “PG rating,” because, after all, this is SUPPOSED to be a family friendly show!

How do you do it?  Use a camcorder or a webcam, silly!  And come up with something original to post on YouTube so I can share it here!  Put on your thinking caps, boys and girls, and feel free to send me those YouTube links to (Do I dare give out my personal email address?  Yeah, why not, I know how to use the Delete button there too.  And we’re all friends here, right?  Right?)  Be sure to give me your first name and where you’re from so I can let people know.  I won’t be putting them up every day, maybe just make it a Friday-only show.  A great way to end each week (if you give me that many each week).

Be sure to give me a subject line on your email of “The View’s Big Talent Show Submission.”  And I am serious!

Good luck!  I look forward to seeing what you’ve got!  And, like the Foo Fighters once sang (a time or two), “KEEP IT CLEAN!”

About A View From The Middle (Class)

Hi, my name's John. I've thought about this blogging stuff for a number of years now. I got into it for real on November 10, 2011, after suddenly losing my job in late October that year. I've been blogging ever since, and I kept it up on a daily basis over a period of a year and four months of being unemployed or under-employed, to try and paint a picture of what being jobless with a family to support can be like. Finally, on February 28, 2013, I got a better job that put us back into the "middle class." But then that job went away, and I took a job as a transit bus driver that put us more in a lower income bracket. Now, I want to blog again on a more regular basis to tell of the kinds of struggles people like us go through as we work toward something better. Who knows, maybe I can actually turn this blogging stuff into a way to earn a living someday! If you go to my blog at and click on my About page, it'll tell you a lot about me -- maybe more than you ever wanted to know. I'm just your average, laid-back guy who's GOING TO MAKE IT IN THIS WORLD, despite all the roadblocks thrown in the way. I also launched a "niche" blog on music at that I'm very excited about because of the popularity of music playlist articles here. Also, check out and "Like" this blog's Facebook page at for instant updates. Look forward to seeing y'all around!
