This is not an easy weekend for me. I’m feeling a bit “jumbled up” inside. I’m remembering feelings and fears and heartache and prayers and a desire to hold out hope and faith that I held inside of me a year ago — with tomorrow marking it down to the day that it all started — when our lives were turned upside down, and not even my family knew it until I waited for just the right moment on a Sunday evening to tell them.
I had lost my job.
Since then, doors have been opened and closed again, and hopefully the ones that were more promising are opened again soon, the result of a “detour” with the timing just not being quite right for whatever reason. Meanwhile, I just keep taking a look behind each door that gets opened, seeing what’s behind it a bit, seeing if it might’ve been meant to be.
It’s those times when something behind those doors looks promising and it doesn’t work out that are the toughest.
So, how many times do you keep putting yourself through that? What do you do when things don’t work out? Do you give up? Or do you just hang on and keep trying? It’d be much easier to just give up. It takes more courage to keep trying. It takes more faith. No matter how many times you find yourself needing to reach out.
